(1 Corinthians 6:12-20) – The temple of God.
Who you are determines what you should be doing.
The fight for many Christians is NOT realizing what we should be doing, it’s realizing what our true identity really is.
In this passage that becomes very clear. WE ARE (identity) the temple of God, the very dwelling place of God.
Because of that Identity, we should be living our lives in a way that’s consistent with who we are as God’s Temple.
Some of the believers in this church were misinterpreting their “what-they-should-be-doing” even though they “knew” who they were in the Lord.
They thought that because they had freedom in Christ, it gave them the “freedom” to do whatever they wanted.
But freedom is not a permission to do every thing, but an empowerment to do the best thing.
Just like food is meant for the stomach, the physical body of the believer is meant to honor God. Anything else just doesn’t make sense.
We don’t own ourselves, we were purchased by God and are now ONE with Christ.
Anywhere we go, we take Jesus with us. When we sin, we take Jesus with us and He sees it.
It is not right or helpful for us to take what belongs to Jesus and bring it somewhere or do something He doesn’t desire.
Make your Temple a place that honors God in all that you do!
Do everything you can to do what is lawful AND helpful to the Lord as a way of saying thank you for all He’s done for us.
