(2 Corinthians 6:11-7:1) – The temple of God.
Paul desperately wanted for the people in this church to open their hearts to the ministry that God had called him to do in their lives.
He knew it would be a blessing to them, even the hard things he’d have to say, it was all to point them to Jesus.
The main point being made in this passage is so critical. It’s an appeal to common sense that should stir them to faithful obedience.
In order for these people to accept God’s grace properly, there needed to be some changes in their primary affections and pursuits.
To pursue the things of the world while at the same time claiming that that very world is passing away is foolish.
To love the things of darkness while at the same time claiming to be a child of the Light is foolish.
To worship idols in the very location that the Spirit of God lives is insanity…it makes zero sense.
And we are the temple of the living God.
It just makes sense that a people who belong to God would live in a way that’s consistent with God’s desires. To do otherwise is folly.
And yet we do it every day.
Because we have the promise of God’s sealing and indwelling Spirit, let us lay aside every sin and weight that slows us down from obedience to the Father. It’s just not worth it.
Don’t think in a vacuum, think big-picture in all things. Consider eternity in every action!
